SPALTED BEECH contemporary side / coffee table - beautiful one off handmade , sculptural, Wabi Sabi

This is a stunningly beautiful sculptural table made of Beech wood from a tree in Hampshire

It is spalted - that is highly patterned and coloured by a fungal infection when the tree was alive (no fungus now!) resulting in attractive and unique lines, patterns and colours in addition to the expected tree rings and grain.

Another feature is the way a split in the top has been filled with travertine limestone. The Japanese have a saying or ethos called Wabi Sabi which celebrates imperfections and the transient nature of things - this table is very Wabi Sabi!

Dimensions of the top are 59x58cm and the overall height is 39cm, so useful as a side table, coffee table or simply as a striking piece of feature furniture. Weight is 12kg and the table is very strong. This top has been coated in 4 layers of matt protection which gives it a beautiful and subtle natural look - when you see it you just want to touch it.

Thelegs are Zinc finish, hairpin style. Other leg heights and finishes are available on request.
