This is a stunningly characterful piece of Yew, around 100 years old, which also looks very much like a map of mainland Britain (albeit Scotland and Cornwall have both shrunk !)

A slice has been taken through the trunk of an old and very complex Yew tree and you can clearly see where around 12 new branch cores are forming inside the tree at this point, prior to exiting the trunk.

Dimensions - the top is 64 x 48 cm at widest points. The top is around 7 cm thick and the legs are 36cm high, giving a total height of 43cm. The legs are coated steel triple hairpins - extremely strong but stylish. Weight is around 15kg.

The table top is very smooth and the whole top has been treated with 4 layers of a durable matt protection. 3 holes in the wood which were originally filled with soft bark ahve been filled with a dark resin.

There is so much drama and detail in the grain of this piece that it is difficult to stop staring at it!

If you wish to view the piece then this can be arranged in the B96 area of Redditch, Worcs.

I am often working on one or two small tables, depending on what seasoned wood is available so please email me if you are after something particular.
