YEW side / coffee table - beautiful one off handmade , map of Britain shape
FREE UK SHIPPING
This is a stunningly characterful piece of Yew, around 100 years old, which also looks very much like a map of mainland Britain (albeit Scotland and Cornwall have both shrunk !)
A slice has been taken through the trunk of an old and very complex Yew tree and you can clearly see where around 12 new branch cores are forming inside the tree at this point, prior to exiting the trunk.
Dimensions - the top is 70 x 52 cm at widest points. The top is around 7 cm thick and with the turned Beech legs in the photos, the total table height is 38cm. Weight is around 15kg.
You have several options for legs - all at the same price
Turned Beech unscrewable. 12 inch (as per photo)
Turned Beech unscrewable 8 inch inch
Turned Beech unscrewable 18 inch inch
Copper hairpin 14 inch (shiny)
Zinc hairpin 14 inch (shiny)
Steel hairpin 14 inch (dark grey)
Orange hairpin 14 inch
The table top is very smooth and the whole top has been treated with 4 layers of a durable matt protection. A couple of holes in the wood which were originally filled with soft bark have been filled with a dark resin.
There is so much drama and detail in the grain of this piece that it is difficult to stop staring at it!
If you wish to view the piece then this can be arranged in the B96 area of Redditch, Worcs.
I am often working on one or two small tables, depending on what seasoned wood is available so please email me if you are after something particular.
